Wedding MC: Party Games
The question of who is going to be the lucky recipient of the centerpiece is very often a topic of discussion at the wedding festivities dining tables, especially when the centerpiece is especially beautiful or unique.
Creating a game of who receives the centerpiece, can be an amusing play and one many reception guests will delight in taking part. Here are a few suggestions for awarding that wedding reception table centerpiece.
One of the most liked ways brides give away the table centerpieces is to put a number on the bottom of the centerpiece and allocate every guest a number. During the celebrations, a number is called, each guest checks their number and whoever has the lucky number wins the centerpiece. Of course, there are a number of ways to put your own spin on this long established party activity.
Another entertaining activity for awarding the table centrepieces is to request the guests to produce a particular item. The wedding emcee goes from table to table, advising what the guests at that particular table will be required to produce if they are to receive the centerpiece. Maybe it’s a Georgia quarter or a mint, or a dentist’s appointment card. Whatever it may be, the guest at each table who shows the requested item will be awarded the centerpiece.
Of course, you can make it really easy and award the table centrepiece table, or the person who took the longest time to finish college. Maybe you could organize an activity whereby the guest who has the strangest talent (as voted on by those at the same table) gets the centerpiece. Naturally it’s much more fun if that guest shows off the talent for all the guests at the reception.
If you like musical chairs, you can play a game of musical dollar bills in order to award the centrepiece. One person at each table takes out a one-dollar bill and music starts playing. The dollar bill is passed around the table and when the music stops, the person still holding the dollar note wins the centerpiece. Or this party game can be played a bit more traditionally with the guest with the dollar note dropping out, and the activity continuing until only one guest is holding the dollar note. That one guest wins the centerpiece
Some enjoyable, and fairly traditional suggestions include the birthday guests winning the centerpiece. At each table, the guest whose birthday closest to the wedding wins the centerpiece. Or if there are married couples at the table, the couple who have been together the longest receive the centerpiece, or the couple who were married most recently. Or the centerpiece could be awarded to the guest with the longest hair, or the strangest shoes (again, this would be voted on by fellow table guests).
Party games are a excellent way for the wedding master of ceremonies to help wedding celebration guests get to know their fellow guest.
