Every August, the Converge of thunder rolls through the stunning Black Hills of South Dakota. This is no malestrom, though. Every year the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is experienced in the northwester Black Hills of South Dakota. Hundreds of thousands of enthusiasts (600,000 was the number in 2000) ride through hills and arrive on the tiny town of Sturgis. This raly has been held every year since 1938 and offers amazing enjoyment for motorcylce enthusiasts and everyone else.
The region becomes a party ground. Thousands of vendors open up shop. There is food and drink, unique items, races, hill climbs and much more. A tour to Sturgis during August 4-10 will always be an eye opener. However, the rally is not without its excellence. The entire city takes on the feel of an huge festival, with activities scheduled from 8 a.m. in the morning all through nightfall every day. This fantastic occurrence was originally simply the meeting place for a motorcycle club. Over the past 68 years, it has blossomed enormously in popularity and participation.
