My entire family has done some sort of blue collar job from plumbing to painting to Residential Patio Cleaning. Carpentry, being an electrician, or whatever else is what my family always did. So when it came time for me to grow up my family didn’t have any doubt in their minds that that was the trade that I was going to be going into . I don’t know how to use tools or anything. I’m not handy. I am scared for myself with a pair of pliers, I can’t even imagine if someone handed me a saw and told me to get to work, I would for sure hurt myself or someone else . That’s how fatalities happen. It all starts with that sort of carelessness. What I understand now that I didn’t when I was younger is that most of these trade positions are passed down through families. The son takes up the father’s job and his son does the same and so does his son and so on and on and on. So of course there was a lot of stress on me to go to work for my dad, my entire family and even my friends didn’t see how I could do anything but . No one ever really knew what to do with me back then. I suppose I can’t blame them. My family was used to the way things have always been so I guess I caught them off guard when I wasn’t exactly like them, actually I was the farthest thing from being like them .
